Na terenie przyszłej elektrowni jądrowej Lubiatowo-Kopalino trwają intensywne działania środowiskowe i archeologiczne. Inwestor – Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) – wdraża szereg procedur minimalizujących wpływ inwestycji na lokalną przyrodę i kulturę, zgodnie z decyzją środowiskową i zaleceniami służb konserwatorskich.
Na obszarze, gdzie powstanie pierwsza w Polsce elektrownia jądrowa, prowadzone są m.in. translokacje chronionych gatunków roślin, grzybów i owadów. Jak informuje PEJ, działania te odbywają się pod okiem doświadczonych specjalistów – botanika, mykologa i entomologa.
W maju zakończono przenoszenie mrowisk dwóch chronionych gatunków: mrówki rudnicy i mrówki ćmawej. Owady trafiły do odpowiednio przygotowanych stanowisk poza obszarem inwestycji – do nasłonecznionych leśnych siedlisk z dostępem do materiałów do budowy kopców i źródeł pożywienia. Prace odbywały się wyłącznie przy temperaturze powyżej 10°C i w godzinach porannych.

Wcześniej PEJ zamontowały ponad tysiąc budek lęgowych dla ptaków oraz blisko sto skrzynek dla nietoperzy. W okolicznych lasach powstały też specjalne schronienia dla gadów.
Przenosiny flory i grzybów
Wiosną przeprowadzono także metaplantacje chronionych gatunków roślin i grzybów. Nowe siedliska wytypowano przy współpracy z Nadleśnictwem Choczewo oraz ekspertami środowiskowymi, wykorzystując dane z dronów wyposażonych w systemy LiDAR i kamery multispektralne. Do nowych lokalizacji trafiły m.in. woskownica europejska, wrzosiec bagienny, bażyna czarna, tajęża jednostronna, jamkówka kurczliwa i jamkówka białobrązowa.
Organizmy zostały odpowiednio zabezpieczone, poddane zabiegom pielęgnacyjnym, a ich stan będzie monitorowany w trakcie całej fazy przygotowań i budowy elektrowni.

PEJ zapowiada, że efekty działań minimalizujących będą monitorowane i raportowane zarówno Regionalnej Dyrekcji Ochrony Środowiska w Gdańsku, jak i Generalnej Dyrekcji Ochrony Środowiska.
Archeologia pod nadzorem
Równolegle z działaniami przyrodniczymi, na terenie inwestycji prowadzone są badania archeologiczne. W oparciu o wytyczne Pomorskiego Wojewódzkiego Konserwatora Zabytków, PEJ skanuje teren przy użyciu dronów i technologii LiDAR, by zidentyfikować potencjalne stanowiska archeologiczne.
Od czerwca 2024 r. prowadzone są badania powierzchniowe. Wskazano już lokalizacje wymagające badań sondażowych, które ruszą w drugiej połowie roku i pozwolą ocenić, czy konieczne będą szersze wykopaliska. Na pozostałym terenie inwestycji zapewniono stały nadzór archeologiczny nad wszystkimi pracami ziemnymi.
